Requirements when signing documents by the local notary (outside Estonia)
The most important detail is that the notary must certify the identity of the signing person(s). This requirement must be stated in the notary text. If the notary only certifies a copy of the original document without certifying the identity of the signing person(s), the document cannot be used in Estonia.
Certification of a copy of the original document must be used when the document itself must be certified, such as a passport, ID card, or a document proving education (diploma), etc.
In most cases, the documents presented to the Estonian Business Registry must be in the Estonian language. Therefore, it is better to use parallel text (e.g., Estonian / English) and ask the notary to add their text in English.
