Temporary residence permit of a board member of an Estonian company
A board member of an Estonian company who is not a citizen of the European Union countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland can, as a board member, apply for a short-term residence permit in Estonia in order to manage the company at its location. Residence permit applications are processed and issued by the Police and Border Guard Board.
When applying for a short-term residence permit, the age of the company must be at least five months and it must have actual economic activity in Estonia for at least five months before submitting the application for a residence permit. The board member must also provide proof of his role as a board member and that the company is actually active. In addition, it is an important requirement that the remuneration paid to the board member is at least at the level of the average gross salary in Estonia.
The residence permit procedure lasts about 2 months, and in the case of a positive decision, the residence permit is granted for 5 years.
